“The Story: From Peter”

Sermon Synopsis: Peter and the disciples entered Jerusalem proudly following Jesus. He was their Savior, their teacher, their friend. It wasn’t but a few short days later that Peter stood in a courtyard and, out of fear and desperation, denied everything he had stood for moments ago. Rev. Lori Patton Aguilar preaching. Children’s palm processional and Growing in Grace Children’s Choir at 9 and 10:30. Tree of Life Praise Band at 9. Chancel Choir at 10:30.

Maundy Thursday | April 17

7:00 p.m. – Worship in the Sanctuary and on Livestream

“The Story: From Judas”

Sermon Synopsis: The Disciples all gathered for a meal they thought was routine. But then things took a turn as topics of status, betrayal, denial and separation dominated their dinner conversation. This night the disciples will all gather together and share the story with us from that night. Rev. Lori Patton Aguilar preaching. Featuring Communion and Chancel Choir.

Easter Sunday | April 20

7:00 a.m. – Youth-led Sunrise Service at the Lions Shelter at Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park

The LUMYouth will lead us as we celebrate the Risen Christ with song, prayer and scripture and greet the beauty of the new Easter morning.

9:00 and 10:30 a.m. – Worship in the Sanctuary and on Livestream

“The Story: From Mary”

Sermon Synopsis: In Matthew’s telling of the resurrection there are two ‘Marys’ at the tomb Easter morning. Mary of Clopas and Mary Magdalene. Mary of Clopas will tell us their story. Did you know that Mary Magdalene has been called, “Apostle of the Apostles”? This title was given to her by St Thomas Aquinas, a 13th century father of the church. It seems fitting that on Easter Sunday we would look at the resurrection through the eyes of the two disciples who preached the very first message of Good News! Rev. Lori Patton Aguilar preaching. Tree of Life Praise Band at 9. Chancel Choir at 10:30.

Easter Offering

The Finance Committee has designated the Easter offering to support the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) US Disaster Response fund. When disaster strikes, UMCOR is there. After a disaster, they are often the first to arrive and the last to leave. Because of the gifts given on UMCOR Sunday in March, 100% of donations to the US Disaster Response fund go to the relief and recovery effort. This fund supports all natural and civil disasters in the US including tornadoes, hurricanes, and wildfires. You may give in the offering plate on Easter Sunday, by mailing a check to the church office, or online at lenexaumc.org/give. Thank you for your generosity.
