At Lenexa UMC, we have a passion for serving our community and world. Get involved through these and other ministries!
Food Pantry
Lenexa UMC supports the food pantry and emergency fund of the North Central Multi-Service Center, a government agency serving the disadvantaged and food-insecure of north central Johnson County. You can bring donations for the food pantry to the gray bins outside the church office. Check CrossLinks for an up-to-date list of what the food pantry needs most.
Dinner’s On Us
Lisa Freeman coordinates the group of members who serve at and bake cookies for our free drive-thru dinner every Wednesday evening. Contact Lisa if you’d like to volunteer!
Hillcrest Transitional Housing
Hillcrest provides shelter, utilities, food and counseling for homeless families and individuals. LUMC pays rent for an apartment there, which we maintain by furnishing it, cleaning and repairing it, and stocking the pantry as a new family is welcomed every three months.
St. Mary’s Kitchen
Three times a year LUMC prepares and serves lunch at St. Mary’s Kitchen in Kansas City, KS.
Knitting and Crocheting
Tuesday morning knitters (and crocheters) make prayer shawls and infant hats and booties. Knitters and crocheters meet Tuesdays at 10 a.m. in the Library.
Other Service Opportunities
LUMC participates in build days for Habitat for Humanity, serves meals at Project 10-20, collects donations for Rosehill Elementary School, as well as participates in a variety of other service projects.
