CHURCH CONFERENCE

Thursday, October 22 | 6:30 p.m. | Schneeberger Hall
————————————————————————————————————————
The annual church conference is coming up soon. We will conduct the annual business of the church, including voting on the 2021 budget, electing committee members for next year and receiving reports. All professing members of Lenexa UMC have a voice and a vote at a Church Conference. If you chair a committee this year, please submit your report for the church conference book to Linda Stokes by October 12.

INTRODUCING YOUTH LIFE GROUPS!

Check out this new program series for the youth!
————————————————————————————————————————
It’s called Life Groups, where a member of the congregation comes in to teach a life skill (cooking, finances, changing a flat, etc.) once a month! You’ll be leading the session and helping them practice this skill!! Plan to speak & demonstrate for about 20 minutes and allow the youth to practice for around 40 minutes! Please sign up if you have any life skills you’d love to teach the youth!

CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL IS BACK!

Check out these two ways to participate!

#1 In-Person Sunday School
————————————————————————————————————————
Nursery Care for Birth–3 years
Kids Connect Sunday School for 4 years–5th grade

Nursery and Sunday School are available during the 10:30 a.m. service only.

#2 Sunday School At-Home Kits
————————————————————————————————————————
Sign up to receive a kit with everything you need to do a short Bible lesson at home each week! Kits are geared toward children 4 years old–5th grade, but anyone is welcome to request them. Kits will be dropped off at your house on Thursday or Friday each week. If you just want a kit for a specific week when you can’t come in person, e-mail Mary Clow.

Watch a welcome video from Ms. Mary, check out our COVID-19 safety guidelines, and sign up for at-home kits here! >

CHRISTMAS EVE SKIT

Our Christmas Eve Skit for 5 p.m. will be an interview show with the animals who were at the manger. The structure of the show means we can do it in a safe manner, with only 2 actors on stage at a time who are more than 6 feet apart. There will be limited rehearsals, because memorization is NOT required. If you’re interested in being in the play or reading scripture during the service, please contact Mary Clow.

OCTOBER 4
18th SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST / STEWARDSHIP FOCUS WEEK 3: GIVING

Rewards of Giving to the Lord in Tithes and Offerings
Malachi 3:8–10

Why do we give to the church? First, so the church has the financial means to meet its needs. Secondly, when we do, God will bless us. Rev. Ezekiel Koech preaching. 4-H Sunday celebration at 8:00.

WORLD COMMUNION SUNDAY

This Sunday is also World Communion Sunday. This Special Sunday with offering focuses our attention on the universal and inclusive nature of the church. We look forward to this celebration annually, when we partake of Holy Communion together and share our gifts to support racial-ethnic students and others in their quest to become leaders who embody the mission of The United Methodist Church. We will be taking communion at all 3 worship services using single-serve pre-filled communion elements. Those worshipping at home are invited to supply their own bread and juice to be blessed by Pastor Ezekiel through the livestream.

We continue our Stewardship emphasis this week with the theme of S.P.O.N.G.E., based on our Strategic Initiatives to grow in Spirituality, Participation, Outreach, Numbers, Giving, and Enthusiasm. This week’s topic is Giving. This is the Sunday we complete our Estimate of Giving cards for the 2021 Operating Budget. You should have received one in the mail this week (there will also be extras available at church). You are invited to bring your completed card with you to worship on Sunday and place in the commitment box, mail the card to the church office, or complete the card online. Thank you for your commitment to God and Lenexa UMC!
