KITCHEN UPDATE

It was great to see so many people take a peek at the kitchen in between services on Fresh Start Sunday. There were many thoughtful questions asked and we (Marvin, Rick, and myself), received lots of positive feedback on the kitchen progress so far. For those that did not have a chance to come by, the signs posted in the kitchen indicating the cabinet, appliance, and sink placement will be left in place until the FRP, (Fiberglass Reinforced Paneling), is installed on the walls. Stop by when you have a chance to see the progress in person.

Our big surprise that was announced on Sunday morning was the discovery of hardwood flooring underneath the carpet in Schneeberger! Originally a product called LVT, (Luxury Vinyl Tile), was picked for the 4’ wide path in front of the passthrough and coffee bar area but since the hardwoods were discovered, the 4’ path will now become beautiful refinished oak hardwoods that once graced the entire floor of Schneeberger. A present-day discovery but an important link to our past.

Have a great week.

EMAIL PHISHING NOTICE

A third party is continuing to send fraudulent emails that look like they’re from Pastor Ezekiel from email addresses that do NOT belong to him. If you receive a message from someone claiming to be Pastor Ezekiel from any email address other than ezekiel.koech@lenexaumc.org, it should be treated as spam. Pastor Ezekiel will never ask for you to do him a “favor”, buy gift cards, etc.

HEAVENLY HALF HOUR POSTPONED

With the continued increase in COVID-19 cases and the Delta variant, at the recommendation of the Health Ministry Team, Pastor Ezekiel and the staff have decided not to move forward with restarting Heavenly Half Hour at this time. We are also suspending the coffee service. We strongly encourage everyone to wear masks indoors, which makes serving food and drink unwise.

FALL STEWARDSHIP

Our fall stewardship program, first: putting God first in living and giving, includes a devotional book that we encourage each family to read together at home. You may pick up a copy outside the sanctuary or contact the church office (913-888-5600 or office@lenexaumc.org) and we will mail one to you. Daily readings begin September 13.

ST. MARY’S FOOD KITCHEN
Friday, October 1

Our next time to serve at St. Mary’s Food Kitchen is Friday, October 1. The kitchen is now open, but many churches continue to serve the lunch bags like we have done in the past year. We will plan to do this also. These consist of a lunch meat sandwich, chips, a protein bar, fruit, and a dessert. Since they are not allowing people to take lunches for their family, the number of lunches they would like us to provide is down to 200-250 instead of the 700-750 we have provided since COVID. If you would be able to provide 25 or maybe 50 lunches, please contact Tom Bean at 913-231-9142 or threetnkbean@juno.com. They would also like us to provide up to 7 people to help serve the lunches, water, juice, and milk and to help with the maintenance of the lunch room. If you could help in this area, let Tom know.
