COVID-19 WORSHIP UPDATE

If you were worshiping with us in-person or online last Sunday, you heard this statement from Pastor Ezekiel:

In a response to the rising COVID-19 case levels across Kansas and Nebraska, we received a directive from Great Plains Conference Bishop Ruben Saenz Jr. stating: “Out of an abundance of caution I am strongly encouraging that in-person worship services for congregations located in counties identified as being in critical or dangerous statuses related to the COVID-19 pandemic be suspended until further notice.”

Because Johnson County is in critical status, we will begin livestream-only worship starting this Sunday, November 22. Worship will be streamed at both 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Small groups may continue meeting at the church following our protocols, including mask wearing and social distancing.

You can view the full letter from the Bishop here. We will continue monitoring the status of Johnson County and receiving updates from the county and conference. You can help us return to in-person worship as soon as possible by continuing to wear masks in public, washing hands, social distancing, and avoiding large groups.

See you in church online at facebook.com/lenexaumc/live!

ADVENT STUDY

You’re invited to join us on a parade of homes. Each home attempts to answer the question: How might a house look for Christmas if it were decorated based on what a Gospel says about the Nativity? Let’s visit each of these homes when we take up the study of Cynthia M. Campbell’s Christmas in the Four Gospel Homes. Our tour will be guided by Andy Oren and meet via Zoom every Tuesday starting on December 1 at 7 p.m. and going through December 21. You may pick up a copy of the book in the church office Monday, November 23 through Wednesday, November 25, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. for a suggested, but not required, donation of $10. (It will be helpful if participants have access to a book). If you need a book delivered to you, let us know. Contact the church (office@lenexaumc.org) if you’re interested in the tour to receive details for the Zoom meetings.

GO NUTS FOR KIDS! FUNDRAISER

Support Children’s Ministry in 2021 by purchasing nuts and other holiday treats from our Go Nuts for Kids fundraiser! This Friday, November 20, is the last day to place your order online. Once the orders arrive you can pick them up at the church office or we can deliver them to you. Thank you for your support of LUMC children!

COLLEGE STUDENT CARE PACKAGES

During December, the Youth Group will be putting together care packages to send to our lovely college students, who are probably really in need of some extra love right now! Help us fill these boxes by donating boxes of individually wrapped snacks, cookies, treats, or anything else you think college students would enjoy. Please drop off all donations in the church office! Thank you so much for supporting them!

LOST AND FOUND

We have lots of coats, sweatshirts and other lost and found items at the church. They are in a box outside the office or hanging up outside Wesley. If you recognize something, please take it home. Anything left at the end of November will be donated to a local thrift store.

COOKIE DOUGH FUNDRAISER

Support LUMC Preschool and CDO by ordering cookie dough from Mrs. Fields! Order online by November 20 and pick up orders via drive-up delivery at LUMC on December 18 from 1–3 p.m. All proceeds support LUMC Preschool and help supplement lost revenues, as enrollment has been impacted by COVID-19. Your support is appreciated!

NOVEMBER 22
CHRIST THE KING / REIGN OF CHRIST SUNDAY

“Wisdom”
Psalm 90:1–10

Moses, the writer of prayer in Psalm 90, knew about bad decisions. He had made plenty of bad decisions in 40 years that he was in the palace, 40 years as a shepherd in the desert, and finally in his 40 years of leading Israel in the wilderness. Perhaps that’s why he was so conscious of the need for wisdom, and maybe we can learn from him today.

In-person services are temporarily suspended for everyone’s safety, but that hasn’t stopped us from worshiping together! We livestream the 9:00 and 10:30 services every week on Facebook, then post the videos on our Online Sermons page later that day.
