Garden elves were hard at work the last two Saturday mornings, weeding, pruning, raking leaves, and mulching. Thank you to the following volunteers who made it happen:
Linda Stoker, perfect attendance award, Lisa Freeman, Steve Vyhlidal, expert weeder Michael Vyhlidal, Carrie Vyhlidal, James Vyhlidal, Christy Kleinsorge, Scott Verville, Rick Halley, Bob Fowler, and the mulch queens Angel Schuerman, Ashley Loss, Calista Loss, and Norah Loss.
The old saying, “Many hands make light work,” is true. Please thank those who gave their time and effort to beautify the LUMC landscape on the east and west side.
We are beginning a planning process to identify the needs and desires of our congregation. As a church, we are taking an online survey called Readiness 360. R360 will help us identify and assess our spiritual intensity, dynamic relationships, missional alignment, and cultural openness. We will report back our findings and discover next steps together. Your participation will help in this process.
Each person in your family, including youth, is invited to fill out the survey, which takes about 15 minutes to complete. Follow the link below and type in our congregation’s survey code. The survey is open until April 12. If you need help accessing the survey, or don’t have computer access, contact the church office for assistance at (913) 888-5600.

The LUMY 2021 Spring Retreat is right around the corner, but it’s not too late to sign up! You can sign up with the links on the LUMYouth Facebook page or contact Teila at Teila.Creekmore@lenexaumc.org. It will all be local with no overnight this year. We’ll be studying the story of Jonah and having a great time together! We hope to see you there!
The LUMY Spring Retreat is coming up! There is no overnight part this year. It’ll just be during the day & evening time. But Teila needs your help to make this happen! Please check out the link to sign up & volunteer! The times are broken down throughout the weekend, so you don’t have to stay for the whole weekend/day if you want. Check and see if there are any times that work for you!
Monday, June 21–Friday, June 25 | 9 a.m.–12:15 p.m.
VBS: Knights of North Castle will be June 21–25. Currently, registration is full and we have a waitlist. If you would like to be added to the waitlist, please contact Mary.Clow@lenexaumc.org.
More volunteers for VBS are needed and will allow us to serve more children this summer. Please contact Mary Clow if you are interested in volunteering. Even if you can’t volunteer all five days, we can still use your help!

We’ve returned to in-person worship, which takes place in the sanctuary at 9:00 and 10:30 a.m.
Masks are required and COVID safety protocols are in place. If you plan on attending in person, we encourage you to read these protocols at https://lenexaumc.org/covid/.
For those who are more comfortable worshiping from home, we’re also continuing to livestream both the 9 and 10:30 services. Please tune in at facebook.com/LenexaUMC/live!

“Why Is Jesus’ Resurrection Important?”
Luke 24: 1–12
Important questions we might be asking today: Why are there different aspects of the Easter stories? Why did He come as a suffering servant? Why did some people not recognize Him and yet the prophets and the scriptures had prophesied about His coming? Why did He resurrect? What is accomplished by the resurrection?
Pastor Ezekiel preaching.
Holy Communion will be served at Maundy Thursday and all three Easter services. Those worshiping at home can either supply their own bread and juice or pick up prepackaged communion elements at the church. Elements can be picked up at the church office or during the Dinner’s On Us drive-thru Wednesday, March 31, 5:30–6:30 p.m.
Easter Offering
This year’s Easter offering supports Hillcrest Transitional Housing. Hillcrest provides working adults who have lost their homes with three months of housing. By participating in the program, the residents are able to become self-supporting and self-reliant. Lenexa UMC sponsors one apartment, which costs approximately $7,000 per year. You may give in the offering plate on Sunday morning or online.
ongoing events & announcements
Can you help as a greeter or usher during worship? Now that we are back to in-person worship, we have several positions open. Please consider volunteering once a month if you are able to.
To volunteer, visit the SignUpGenius page here:
Through Easter Sunday, you are invited to join the Great Plains Conference and our bishop in setting apart a sacred and regular time each day during the next 100 days to pray for our nation and a smooth transition of power using “A Prayer in a Time of National Crisis”. Each Wednesday morning there will be a video on our LUMC Facebook page leading you in this prayer:
God of all the ages, in your sight nations rise and fall and pass through times of peril. Now when our land is troubled, be near to judge and save. May leaders be led by your wisdom; may they search your will and see it clearly. If we have turned from your way, reverse our ways and help us to repent. Give us your light and your truth, let them guide us; through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of this world, and our Savior. Amen.
The food pantry is currently welcoming all donations. Please bring your donations to the gray bins outside of the church office.
March–April Upper Rooms are here. You may pick one up at the church, or if you would like one mailed to you, contact the church office at (913) 888–5600 or office@lenexaumc.org.
