COVID-19
SAFETY UPDATE
As you may know, we communicated on Saturday, July 18 that a staff member had been exposed to COVID-19. We have consulted with the Johnson County Health Department, and there is not a concern about transmission within the LUMC congregation for those who have attended worship or other events.

Following guidance from the health department, in-person events may resume at the church this week, and we will have in-person worship at the park and the church on July 26. Out of an abundance of caution, the church office will remain closed for the week of July 20, and office staff members will not be available for in-person meetings this week. Please contact the
church office
or individual staff members with any needs you have. Voicemail messages to the church at (913) 888–5600 will be monitored, but there may be a delay in replying.

WORSHIP for THIS WEEK

JULY 26
8TH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST
“Be Careful What You Pray For”
Matthew 13:31-33, 44-52

It may seem strange to say, “be careful what you pray for”. Sometimes as Christians, prayers just roll off our tongues, and we don’t really think through the implications of what we are praying for or what may be involved if the things we pray for come to pass. So in our Gospel reading today, Jesus gives a number of parables, beginning each one with the phrase:,“The Kingdom of heaven is like…” He uses the examples of mustard seeds and yeast. These are uncomfortable products. They are subversive. They cannot be contained or controlled. Be careful what you pray for—you just might get it.
