Weekly Newsletter—January 27

new & upcoming at LUMC!
As you know, we received a letter from Great Plains Conference Bishop Ruben Saenz Jr. in November stating that in-person worship should be suspended for congregations located in counties in critical status for COVID-19. You can read the full letter from the Bishop linked on our website homepage. LUMC is continuing to follow this guidance from Bishop Saenz. Staff have been reviewing the statistics weekly and, as of this writing, Johnson County is still listed as being in critical status. You can view our county’s stats at covidactnow.org. Once Johnson County moves out of critical status, we will share details about resuming in-person worship through CrossLinks, Facebook, and our website. Please continue to practice safe social distancing measures and join us in praying for a decrease in cases throughout the county, so that we can safely worship together in-person soon. Until then, we enjoy “seeing” you in worship on our livestreams at facebook.com/lenexaumc/live.
Sunday, January 31
Invite your friends to join you for online worship this Sunday for a special worship service. The Park Players, who lead music during Worship in the Park, will be back to lead our worship music on January 31! You won’t want to miss it!
Sunday, January 31 | 7 p.m.
Join us—and Liesel, our host—on Facebook Live as we sing and chat about favorite hymns. This will be a fun evening of singing and fellowship from the comfort of your home!
Through Easter Sunday, you are invited to join the Great Plains Conference and our bishop in setting apart a sacred and regular time each day during the next 100 days to pray for our nation and a smooth transition of power using “A Prayer in a Time of National Crisis”. Each Wednesday morning there will be a video on our LUMC Facebook page leading you in this prayer:
God of all the ages, in your sight nations rise and fall and pass through times of peril. Now when our land is troubled, be near to judge and save. May leaders be led by your wisdom; may they search your will and see it clearly. If we have turned from your way, reverse our ways and help us to repent. Give us your light and your truth, let them guide us; through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of this world, and our Savior. Amen.
Sundays | 10–10:30 a.m.
Zoom Sunday School for kids meets each Sunday morning. Sign up online to receive the Sunday School kits with the materials for our activities and a lesson plan if you want to do the lesson at a different time. Contact Mary Clow for the Zoom link to join or with any questions.

Sunday worship
In-person services are temporarily suspended for everyone’s safety, but that hasn’t stopped us from worshiping together! We livestream the 9:00 and 10:30 services every week on Facebook, then post the videos on our Online Sermons page later that day.
“Are You Still Amazed At Jesus’ Doings?”
Mark 1:21–28
Verse 27 says that people were amazed at what Jesus was doing. So how in the world can the story of Jesus ever capture the attention of mankind again? It must start with you and me. If we are not amazed by what God has done and is doing, they may never stop to listen to His voice.
Rev. Ezekiel Koech preaching. Park Players leading music.
We will celebrate Holy Communion on February 7. You can either supply your own bread and juice for worship at home or pick up prepackaged communion elements at the church. Elements can be picked up at the church office or during the Dinner’s On Us drive-thru Wednesday, February 3, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Have your communion elements ready on February 7 to be blessed by Pastor Ezekiel on the livestream.
