LENTEN STUDY
Sundays, February 21–March 28 | 7 p.m.

You are invited to explore the last days of Christ’s life in a Lenten Study using the book Entering the Passion of Jesus: A Beginner’s Guide to Holy Week by Amy-Jill Levine. The study, moderated by Andy Oren, will take place on Sunday evenings via Zoom. Contact the church office to sign up and get the Zoom link. Books will also be available in the church office for a $10 suggested, but not required, donation. If you need a book delivered to you, let us know.

GET TO KNOW TEILA!

The Pathfinders class is excited that our Director of Youth Ministries, Teila Creekmore, will be joining us this Sunday, February 7, to share a little about herself and her ministry with our youth. Anyone is welcome to join us! If you would like to get to know Teila better, this is your opportunity. All are welcome; you do not need to be a member of the class. The class meets at 9 a.m. via Zoom. Contact Keith Stokes for the Zoom link.

SUPER BOWL FOOD BANK CHALLENGE

The Kansas City District and the Gulf Central District in Florida are having a Food Bank Challenge for the Super Bowl. All food collected by noon on Monday, February 8 will be counted toward the Kansas City District total.

The food pantry is currently in need of cleaning supplies (laundry soap, liquid dish soap), personal hygiene items (deodorant, toothpaste, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner), baking items (flour, sugar, cake mixes, pancake mix) and basic condiments (ketchup, mustard, salad dressing). Please bring donations to the gray bins outside of the church office.

100 DAYS OF PRAYER

Through Easter Sunday, you are invited to join the Great Plains Conference and our bishop in setting apart a sacred and regular time each day during the next 100 days to pray for our nation and a smooth transition of power using “A Prayer in a Time of National Crisis”. Each Wednesday morning there will be a video on our LUMC Facebook page leading you in this prayer:

God of all the ages, in your sight nations rise and fall and pass through times of peril. Now when our land is troubled, be near to judge and save. May leaders be led by your wisdom; may they search your will and see it clearly. If we have turned from your way, reverse our ways and help us to repent. Give us your light and your truth, let them guide us; through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of this world, and our Savior. Amen.

Sunday worship

In-person services are temporarily suspended for everyone’s safety, but that hasn’t stopped us from worshiping together! We livestream the 9:00 and 10:30 services every week on Facebook, then post the videos on our Online Sermons page later that day.

FEBRUARY 7
6TH SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY

“Spending Time In Aloneness”
Job 3:26, Mark 1:29-38

Peace and quiet. How many times have you wished for that? How many times have you tried to get it but were unsuccessful? Maybe you share Job’s sentiment “I have no peace, no quietness; I have no rest, but only turmoil.” We can understand why Job would say this. We may not have it as bad as Job did, but we can still relate to the verse. As we continue into 2021, maybe it’s time to start incorporating some silent solitude into our daily regimen.

COMMUNION SUNDAY

We will celebrate Holy Communion on February 7. You can either supply your own bread and juice for worship at home or pick up prepackaged communion elements at the church. Elements can be picked up at the church office or during the Dinner’s On Us drive-thru Wednesday, February 3, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Have your communion elements ready on February 7 to be blessed by Pastor Ezekiel on the livestream.

ASH WEDNESDAY—DRIVE-THROUGH ASHES

This year, you may receive your imposition of ashes through a drive-through in the west parking lot at church. Ashes will be available 7:30–8:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., and 5:30–7:00 p.m. Ashes will be applied in a safe and sanitary manner.
