ALEX’S LEMONADE STAND YOUTH FUNDRAISER
Saturday, August 8 | 11 a.m.–2 p.m.

LUMYouth will be hosting a lemonade stand this Saturday at the Lenexa Hy-Vee (87th and Pflumm). All money will go to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, which supports childhood cancer research. Kids with cancer need our help now more than ever, so please come out and support us by buying a cup (or two) of lemonade from the youth! Let’s turn lemons into lemonade and help support childhood cancer research through Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation!

The August issue of
the  MESSENGER
is available now!

If you usually pick up the Messenger at the church and would like a copy mailed to you, please contact the church office via email or phone.

As always, it can also be read online.
VIRTUAL RACE
The Great Plains Conference is hosting a virtual race! Sign up and complete your choice of 1 mile, 5k, or half-marathon anywhere and anytime you want. To join our LUMC team, register at https://bit.ly/30pzB3Z by August 17 and e-mail Teila Creekmore to let her know you are participating. Your $15 donation supports antiracist justice education and advocacy within the conference and you’ll receive a t-shirt and medal. Opportunities to sponsor our LUMC team are coming in September.
HOOP SHOOT

The Hoop Shoot to benefit our Hillcrest Housing apartment will be Sunday, August 30. You can sign up this year at church, at Worship in the Park, or by emailing Denise Smerchek. All ages and all skill levels are invited to shoot. If it works better for you, you can shoot the baskets ahead of time at home or a neighborhood park. Sign-up August 2-9 to shoot baskets. Sign-up to be a sponsor August 16-23.

SUNDAY WORSHIP

AUGUST 9
10TH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST / GRADUATION SUNDAY
“You Are Never Alone”
Matthew 14:22–33

This scripture lesson examines the story of Jesus walking on the water and how the disciples reacted in fear because they failed to recognize that it was Him walking towards them. We must learn to cope with our fears. Fear is a destructive force that plagues all of us at certain times in our lives.

Rev. Ezekiel Koech preaching.
