Outreach

At Lenexa UMC, we have a passion for serving our community and world. Get involved through these and other ministries!

Food Pantry

Lenexa UMC supports the food pantry and emergency fund of the North Central Multi-Service Center, a government agency serving the disadvantaged and food-insecure of north central Johnson County. You can bring donations for the food pantry to the gray bins outside the church office. Check CrossLinks for an up-to-date list of what the food pantry needs most.

Mission Trips

PEANUTS (People Experiencing A New Understanding Through Service) trips provide opportunities to serve in places of need, to grow in faith and to enjoy the support and fellowship of others campers. We have mission trips for all ages, namely GREEN PEANUTS for middle school youth, PEANUTS for senior high youth, MIXED NUTS for young adults and SALTY PEANUTS for older adults.

Dinner’s On Us

Lisa Freeman coordinates the group of members who serve at and bake cookies for our free drive-thru dinner every Wednesday evening. Contact Lisa if you’d like to volunteer!

Hillcrest Transitional Housing

Hillcrest provides shelter, utilities, food and counseling for homeless families and individuals. LUMC pays rent for an apartment there, which we maintain by furnishing it, cleaning and repairing it, and stocking the pantry as a new family is welcomed every three months.

Knitting and Crocheting

Tuesday morning knitters (and crocheters) make prayer shawls and infant hats and booties. Knitters and crocheters meet Tuesdays at 10 a.m. in the Library.

Other Service Opportunities

Multiple times throughout the year, LUMC youth and adults prepare and serve meals at St. Mary’s Kitchen in Kansas City, KS, and Ronald McDonald House in Kansas City, MO, as well as participate in a variety of other service projects.
