Prayer Stones: A Mini Meditation

Have you ever gone through the day and forgot about your Lenten resolution? Or, maybe forgot that you were going to start practicing a new behavior, like being more patient, loving, understanding, etc. Want to remember a certain scripture? A personalized prayer stone can help. Every time you touch your special stone it will remind you to stop, breathe and focus on what's important to you. Just like a mini meditation!

You'll find these stones placed at all three entrances of the church building. Pick out a stone, write your word(s) of inspiration on it, take it and carry it with you all week. You can bring it back the following week, someone else might be needing that same inspiration, or you can keep it as long as you'd like. Use as many as you'd like! You can even have a new meditation each week!

Saving our Parents Documentary

Everyone is invited to a special viewing of the documentary, "Saving Our Parents". Hosted and narrated by Emmy and Golden Globe Winner Ed Asner, this film addresses how we can keep our aging loved ones safe. The documentary will be shown at 7pm on Thursday, March 11 at Lenexa United Methodist Church (9138 Caenen Lake Road in Old Town Lenexa).

According to statistics, our parents and loved ones are living longer than ever before. Between 1990 and 2020, the number of 65 to 74 year old Americans will increase by a staggering 75%. As the senior population surges, so does their risk for falling prey to elder abuse. Predatory Caregivers...Crooked Conservators...Neglectful Nursing Homes - the "golden" years have never been more dangerous. A time of discussion will follow. Come and find out more about protecting your loved ones!!

This event is sponsored by the Stephen Ministry team at Lenexa UMC. Contact Rev. Lane Bailey with questions - 913-888-5600 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . You can also see www.savingourparents.com for more information.
