Prospective Parents

Our school is blessed with an awesome group of parents that are both supportive of and involved with our program.  Life-long friendships are often made here between parents and staff members as we all work together in our “school family” to nurture God’s littlest learners.

Have a look at our programs, which all operate September–May, and learn about what makes our school so special!

Our Programs

Find the right class for your child!

Preschoolers attend morning or afternoon classes in our modern, cheerful classrooms. Loving teachers, our theme-related curriculum, and our fabulous learning environment nurture the love of learning in students and prepares them for the rigors of kindergarten and beyond. Age requirements for classes are in alignment with Kansas kindergarten rules. All programs at LUMC Preschool operate September–May.

Children’s Day Out

Our CDO program offers a nurturing introduction to preschool. Our small class sizes and loving teachers lay the foundation for students to learn social skills, self-help skills, and school routines while enjoying our theme-related curriculum.

CDO students attend morning or extended day sessions in a small, nurturing classroom setting. Class size is eight children with two teachers in each classroom. Morning sessions run from 9:15 a.m. – 12:45 p.m, and extended day sessions run from 9:15 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Your child’s age group is determined by how old they will be on August 31 of the school year in which they’re enrolling.

Toddlers (15 months and walking – 2 years, 6 months) attend one day a week Monday–Friday. Parents choose either the morning or extended day session.

Older 2’s/Younger 3’s Room (2 years, 6 months – 3 years, 6 months) may attend one or two days a week, Monday–Friday. Parents choose either the morning or extended day session.

Testimonials

Here’s what our parents are saying…

All three of our children have attended LUMC Preschool for a combined total of 8 years. Words can’t really describe the warm environment and wonderful staff. Each and every staff member is blessed with the gift of caring for and teaching little ones. Our children were well prepared not only for kindergarten, but for a lifetime of learning! Although there are other preschools within closer proximity to my house, LUMC was definitely worth the extra drive!

–E.M.

Our family highly values education. We had a clear focus of what we wanted in a preschool, and found that and so much more at LUMC! From the director to the teacher’s aide, each person that interacts with my three kids knows them, loves them, and teaches them. LUMC Preschool has been a perfect fit.

–A.B.

Our family is blessed to be a part of LUMC Preschool. We love everything from the caring attitude of every staff member to the priceless projects that are sent home. LUMC has helped our 3 kids grow leaps and bounds socially and academically. Kindergarten has been an easy transition for our older kids thanks to the strong curriculum. We always felt the staff tailored their teaching approach to fit each of our kids personalities and abilities. We felt confident our kids were in loving and capable hands each time we dropped them off at school. We have treasured our nine years spent at LUMC.

FAQs

15 months – 5 years (by August 31).

We welcome students from diverse backgrounds and all religious beliefs. Each of our students is a child of God and worthy of love, dignity, and respect. The diversity of our school population enriches the fabric of our program.

In the past, that has certainly been the case. In more recent years, however, most interested new families can usually secure a spot, especially if they register the first day of open registration.

Yes! Our theme-related curriculum is fun, stimulating, and promotes exploration and discovery. It is aligned with Kansas Early Learning Standards.

All preschool teachers have an education-related degree. 75% of our staff have bachelor’s or master’s degrees, and the remainder have years of experience in working with young children and strong credentials.

All preschool students must be potty-trained. CDO students do not need to be potty-trained.

Yes! We provide daily opportunities for large motor play on our beautiful outdoor playground, and indoors in our large multi-purpose room. Rain or shine, children can channel their natural energy in positive ways, including riding toys, climbing equipment, dramatic play, sand and water play.

CDO children enjoy music and movement daily with their classroom teachers. Preschool students have music and movement classes with our music instructor in their own music room. Preschoolers perform several songfests for their parents during each school year.

Yes! We have a Preschool Carnival/Open House in the fall and our Awesome Art Show/Book Fair every Spring. We have a Daddy-Daughter Dance in the spring and a Mommy-Son Hoe-Down (cowboy-themed dance party!) in the fall. All of these events are great ways to meet other families in the LUMC Preschool and connect with own children in a fun way.

Yes. We have vast experience in dealing with food allergies. Talk to the director, Ms. Lori, for more specific details.

No, we are not a peanut-free school, but we do have designated peanut-free classrooms.

Our AM sessions are always the first to fill up. Some parents struggle to embrace afternoon preschool. However, our experience has shown that most children adapt well to an afternoon class two or three days a week with catch-up naps on the other days of the week if needed. Preschoolers in our PM classes avoid that “hurry to get out the door” morning stress.

We use a waitlist because it is the fairest way to keep track of enrollment. We typically find that we are able to place everyone who wishes to enroll.

Still have more questions? We’d be happy to answer them!
