The Gregorys Are Coming!

The Gregorys are coming!!!  The Gregorys are coming!!!  I am so excited that I can now share my joy about this soon-to-be “retired” couple coming to LUMC.  I have known Jack and Marilyn forever!  They are two of my favorite people in the Annual Conference and real trailblazers, not just in the Kansas East Conference, but in the whole United Methodist Connection.  Whether one is talking about Clergy Couples, Cooperative Parishes or Collegial Ministry, the Gregorys have been at the forefront in innovation and examples of excellence.  This couple is intimately connected to all things Methodist.  They served together as the District Superintendent (s) of the Topeka District, to my knowledge, the only couple who have ever shared such a role.  They have served churches in all manner of settings and have held numerous chair positions on the district and conference level.  Most importantly, their commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to ministry to all people in Jesus’ name is beyond reproach.  Wherever they have served, they have been innovators in reaching the last the least and the lost for Christ.  The fact that they are excited about coming to Lenexa United Methodist Church is high praise in deed for LUMC and for Pastor Peggy.  With their addition to the LUMC staff, you will have three of the most skilled and dedicated pastors in the Kansas East Conference.  As a compliment to the existing staff, there will be no church of comparable size in the Kansas East Conference that will be able to boast of a ministry team more talented or more dedicated than LUMC.    While I envy you all your “Dream Team” staff, I will be looking forward to hearing about all the new and exciting ministries that will be happening in Lenexa.
