Adult Ministries

Lenexa UMC “exists to create an enthusiastic Christian community”! Enthusiasm literally means to be inspired or filled with God. It is our purpose at Lenexa UMC to provide the fellowship, educational and ministry opportunities so each person may be inspired by Christ at every stage of life. To that end, we offer a host of fellowship, educational and mission opportunities.

People form friendships and partner up for ministry experiences in many, many ways. These might include helping to serve lunch to those in need in the metro area, participating in a Missions trip in another state or country, making a prayer shawl, bringing food for a funeral, helping with maintenance around the church or in the home/yard of someone in need, joining a committee, singing in the Choir, being an Usher on Sunday mornings…and so much more! Below are a few of the active “formal” ways adults can grow their faith:

United Methodist Women

The United Methodist Women ("UMW") is a strong component of our Adult Ministries made up of women who live out their faith in countless ways. Some of their activities include small groups called “Circles”, organizing mission opportunities in the community (such as tutoring at Bonjour Elementary School), organizing a sale called “Trash to Treasure” in the spring and fall of each year, encouraging members to read from the annual UMW reading program that is concerned with issues of social justice, women’s retreats and more. The UMW is open to newcomers at any time! Come and check us out!!

Men’s Ministries

United Methodist Men’s ministries are as equally important as the Women’s at Lenexa UMC. The group is made up of men of all ages...they work hard together, while enjoying fun and Christian fellowship as well! A couple of times each year, the men head to Rock Bottom (a private lake) for an overnight fellowship. They also BBQ cooking for church events, help with building and yard needs around the church and for needy families, and more. Contact the This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Young Adult and Campus Ministries

The time of life following High School graduation into one’s 30’s is one of the most exciting and challenging periods any of us experience. Life is changing so fast that it is easy to lose one’s bearings, which means we need Christ and the fellowship of the church even more. To that end, Lenexa UMC has enlisted the gifts and talents of This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The Kansas East and West Annual Conferences of the United Methodist Church also provide a ministry presence on our state college campuses, as well as Washburn University in Topeka. There, students can find an oasis of Christian fellowship and acceptance in the midst of chaotic college life. Click on the East or West Conference links above to find out more about campus ministry life in the colleges they serve.

Senior Adult Ministries

Lenexa UMC is blessed to have a very active group of senior adults whose energy, experience and wisdom are invaluable to our congregation. While our seniors are active in every aspect of our congregational life, there are certain ministries that are specific to their needs. Two of these are the Retired People in Motion (RPM) Sunday School Class and our Rides Program. RPM has ministered to the needs of seniors and organized seniors for ministry for nearly three decades. For our senior members’ convenience, volunteers provide rides to church on Sunday and through the week as needed.

There is also a group of women (age 70 and older) called "The Upper Room Ladies" who meet at 2pm every Wednesday of the month (except the second Wednesday) at Lakeview Village (in the multi-purpose room, 5th floor, of the main building). They gather together for a spiritual time to pray, do a Bible Study (based on The Upper Room) and support each other with friendship, laughter and fun. Education

Education is key to growing our walk with Christ. You can do this by attending a Sunday School class, joining a ChristCare Group, participating in the UMW or Mens’ Ministries joining a seasonal group on Wednesday nights, attending a Disciple class as offered and more.
